One of the key elements of Le Corbusier’s design language was problem solving, as the world shifted into modernity new needs arose. Another key aspect of Le Corbusier’s design language is simplification, which would have a positive impact on people who interacted with his projects. The two latter propositions demonstrate a design language that have in common the prioritization of aesthetics, while also serving as a problem solver and simplification of design. 

            One of the most famous projects that Le Corbusier ever produced in his career was his iconic house over “Pilotis”. This design was innovative in the sense that it provided a solution for the growing needs of a society shifting towards modernity. Having a design language that allowed for the simple storage of automobiles was revolutionary at the time, as society was shifting its means of transportation from utilizing horses to the internal combustion engine automobile. Le Corbusier also incorporated another aspect to this problem-solving design. He created a way to make this design look aesthetic and modern, provoking a duality in its usage. 

            Another important aspect to consider is how Le Corbusier took into the consideration simplicity and comfort in his designs. One of his projects, “Unité de Habitation” in Marseille is good example to draw ideas from. In this apartment complex, one needed not to own a penthouse to have a balcony featured in an apartment, as every unit had one available. This same apartment complex also featured a basic needs store, a gym, and other commodities. All of these incorporations made the owners of units lives much simpler and they were able to access basic necessities at ease. 

            Le Corbusier was an architectural genius because he came up with a design language that incorporated problem solving and simplicity in an aesthetic view point. His thought process in design allowed people who adopted his designs language to ease into the modern era. His designs were purposeful, making the lives of people who interacted with his projects easier or more comfortable. He also spearheaded modern architecture and his influence is undeniable in the contemporary world. In conclusion, Le Corbusier’s designs were practical as well as beautiful in their nature.
