The Eames, the creative process, and the paramount importance of collaboration.
The Eames, the creative process, and the paramount importance of collaboration.
The Eames were ahead of their time in terms of innovative design and imagination. The work of the Eames demonstrates that through an architectural lens, many subgenres emerge, being more than just designing buildings. One very important aspect that made the Eames successful and is considered a pillar of the field of architecture is collaboration. These two previous premises are jointed together in the form of innovative creative design in not only architecture, but in the subgenres that the discipline gives rise to.
Architecture is more the just designing buildings whether on massive scales or just a residential project. Architecture is a form of art and the Eames work are a testament of this. The Eames vision in the innovative creative process was revolutionary for its time. So much so that many of their designs still persist as staples in the today’s contemporary design. One great example of this is the Eames's various chair designs; and how prevalent their aesthetic influences the chairs of today.
Collaboration is one of the most important aspects of the success story of the Eames's office. Obviously, when we think of the Eames, its main culprits are Charles and Ray Eames. It is important, however, to recognize that behind the minds of these two individuals was a team of carefully curated employees who collaborated in the creative process. These people also deserve to be credited in the Eames success story. The Eames were both geniuses in the creative process, but recognizing the importance of the people behind the scenes is not only fair and important; but one could also say that they were a critical part of the success story of the Eames.
The Eames were ahead of their time in terms of the creative process of design. So much so that we still see their influence in today’s contemporary design. The many subgenres that architecture gives rise to and collaboration go hand in hand, as both are two faces of the same coin. Design through collaboration is one of the most important aspects of the Eames success story. The Eames legacy will live on as one of the most inspiring moments in American design.
