            Acropolis and Cathedrals; The genesis of modern awe evoking architecture and its connection with Religion

            The architectural style of the ancient Greeks inspired the building style of later important projects which manifested authority; in some cases, involving cathedrals which were built to display authority but of the divine or religious type. The architectural style of the ancient Greeks, adopted by the Romans, and later by the modern world symbolized power and authority. Greek architecture also found its way into important religious buildings, most notable cathedrals which provoked divine authority. The latter propositions are jointed together by the inspiration of Greek architecture to manifest different types of power and authority. 

            The ancient Greeks developed a building style which was primarily focused on scale. Others aspects of this building style was the décor and attention to detail mathematically wise. The Romans later adopted this style and used it to symbolize power in their mega projects. In the contemporary era, we can see how this Greek style is incorporated into the important building of today. Projects like capitol buildings and presidential residences of countries resemble this style. Similarly, to the Romans this style was used to portray power and authority. 

            The architectural style of the Greeks also found its way into religious building of the Greeks themselves as well as the Romans. We can also see Greek inspiration in the contemporary era in cathedrals. When utilizing inspiration of the Greeks, not only were these buildings when used to portray power and authority, they were used to portray divine authority. This idea of divine authority was propelled by the massive scale of the cathedrals themselves, as common folk would enter these buildings and immediately fall into a state of awe. Due to the nature of these buildings to portray power and authority whether it be of political, religious or a mixture of the two, this gave rise to competition within cities in the sense of who can end up building the best mega project. 

            The architectural style of the ancient Greeks inspired the building of important projects that displayed authority; in some cases, involving cathedrals which were built to display authority but of the divine or religious type. In the case of the Romans, they used it to portray power and authority as an Empire. In the contemporary era, this style is adopted in important government architectural projects like capitol buildings all around the world. In the case of religious institutions, they utilized this style also to display authority and power but also adding the divine aspect to it.
